Who operates AiCalla
AiCalla is operated by Valhalla Innovations (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. AiCalla is a privacy-first Android call-protection app that works with your existing Phone app.
How Shield makes a live decision
Eligible incoming-call decisions are designed to happen locally on the device. AiCalla does not wait for backend requests, Google Play Billing, advertising, analytics or cloud AI before Android receives a Ring, Silence or Block decision.
If bounded local context cannot be loaded safely within the available time, AiCalla uses the conservative fallback and lets the call ring. Eligible activity may be backed up after the live decision.
Information processed on your device
Depending on the features you use, AiCalla may process these separate local data domains:
- Personal Trusted, Silenced and Blocked rules.
- Local Shield Calls activity for screened incoming calls.
- A local relationship index used for bounded on-device context.
- Shield Profile answers and the profile you confirmed.
- Expecting a Call and Call Window state.
- Asked-to-stop dates and notes.
- Evidence Summary source data.
- Local display, setup and permission state.
These domains support local screening, explanations, Caller Profile, review and after-call actions. They may have separate clear or reset controls.
Contacts, Call Log, messages and call audio
Release 3.3.0 does not request Contacts or Call Log permission. AiCalla does not upload the device’s Contacts or full Call Log.
AiCalla does not read SMS messages, record calls, transcribe calls or use call audio to make screening decisions.
Information eligible for service processing
After a call or during an eligible service refresh, AiCalla may process limited service data such as:
- Installation or device registration information.
- Designed incoming screening-event payloads.
- Pseudonymous caller identifiers.
- Screening action and reason codes.
- Spam or important feedback.
- Community reports.
- Reputation-cache and caller-context refreshes.
- Limited diagnostics needed to operate and troubleshoot the service.
- Current Plan information.
- Google Play purchase-verification information.
This eligible data supports service operation, security, deferred backup, Community features, local cache refreshes, plan access and reliability. It is not queried to decide a live incoming call.
First-party AiCalla services
AiCalla uses the AiCalla API at api.aicalla.co.za for eligible registration, deferred activity, feedback, Community, cache, caller-context, plan, purchase-verification and service operations.
Caller Insight, lock-screen alerts and notifications
Where Android and the device allow it, AiCalla may show Caller Insight above the normal Phone app, display a privacy-aware lock-screen caller alert or use a notification for call context and safe actions. The Phone app remains responsible for answering or declining.
These are optional presentation layers. Core Shield screening does not depend on overlay or notification permission, and passive caller details may be masked or limited to reduce unnecessary exposure.
Advertising on Free
AiCalla uses Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform for limited, consent-aware banner advertising on approved Free surfaces. Depending on consent, configuration and Google’s service operation, Google Mobile Ads may process information such as an IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, device or advertising identifiers, app interactions, diagnostics and fraud-prevention information.
Approved banner surfaces are the Shield dashboard, Shield Calls and Rules.
Ads never appear during calls; in Caller Insight; in lock-screen caller alerts; in notifications or notification actions; in Caller Profile; in Call Window; in Asked to stop; in Evidence Summaries; in permission or onboarding flows; in privacy controls; in Plus purchase flows; or in individual call cards.
AiCalla does not add phone numbers, caller identities, call history, screening decisions, Community labels, personal rules, Evidence data or Asked-to-stop information to ad requests. Call information is not used for ad targeting.
Google Play Billing and AiCalla Plus
Monthly and Yearly AiCalla Plus subscriptions are offered through Google Play Billing. Google Play manages purchase and subscription processing, shows the current localised price and provides renewal and cancellation controls under the applicable store terms.
AiCalla may send limited purchase-verification information to its backend to confirm Current Plan access. The current public Plus benefit is no AiCalla ads.
Google Play In-App Updates
AiCalla may use Google Play In-App Updates to remind you when an eligible app update is available. Google Play controls update availability and delivery.
Business identity claims
If you use the separate public business claimant portal, AiCalla processes the work email, claimant identity, authority declaration, business registration details, claimed phone numbers, declared call purposes, public contact channels, verification results and evidence you deliberately submit. These records are separate from Android Shield activity.
Private claimant details, verification material and evidence are not included in publication previews. Approved business display information may be published after review.
Sharing and service providers
AiCalla does not sell personal call information. Eligible service data may be processed by providers where needed to host, secure, bill, advertise on approved surfaces, update and operate AiCalla. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.
Retention and security
Local data remains until you clear the relevant domain, clear Android application storage or uninstall AiCalla. Eligible service data is kept only as long as reasonably needed for its purpose or required by law.
AiCalla uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted transport where information is sent to AiCalla services. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, including South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, you may request access, correction or deletion of eligible personal information or object to certain processing. AiCalla may need limited information to verify and locate the relevant service record.
For privacy, access or deletion requests, email privacy@aicalla.co.za. You may also contact South Africa’s Information Regulator.
Clearing and deleting data
Use the relevant action under AiCalla Settings → Privacy & data to clear eligible local information. A separate request may be needed for eligible synced service data. Follow the AiCalla data-deletion instructions.
Policy updates
This policy may change when AiCalla features, providers or legal requirements change. The updated date above shows when this version took effect.
