Getting started

Which Android versions are supported?

AiCalla supports Android 10 or newer. Optional presentation features can vary by device manufacturer and system settings.

How do I install AiCalla?

Open AiCalla on Google Play, select Install, then open the app and follow Build your Shield.

How do I turn on AiCalla Shield?

Build your Shield, review and confirm the recommendation, then follow Android’s prompt to select AiCalla as your caller ID and call-screening app.

Does AiCalla replace my Phone app?

No. Your existing Phone app still rings and keeps its normal answer and decline controls.

Why does Android ask me to select AiCalla?

Android requires you to choose the app that may provide caller ID and Call Screening. This gives Shield the system role it needs without changing your default Phone app.

What happens if I decline a permission?

Declining the Call Screening role leaves Shield inactive. Overlay and notification permissions are optional; declining them removes those presentation layers while local screening and Shield Calls can continue.

Shield

What are Ring, Silence and Block?

Ring lets the call alert normally. Silence allows it through Android without an audible interruption. Block rejects it when a strong personal rule or feedback applies.

How does Build your Shield work?

AiCalla asks four questions about unknown calls, interruptions, repeat callers and expected callbacks, then explains a recommended profile before you confirm it.

Why was an unknown call silenced?

Open Shield Calls or Caller Profile to see whether your Shield profile, a personal Silence rule or another valid local signal kept it quiet.

Why did an unknown call ring?

Your settings may allow it, it may match personal important feedback or a qualifying repeat pattern, a Call Window may be active, or AiCalla may have used the conservative ring fallback.

What happens when someone calls twice?

Repeat handling follows the Shield profile you reviewed. A qualifying repeat call can ring if your profile allows it, while explicit Block and Silence rules remain stronger.

Which rules take priority?

Your personal Trusted, Silenced and Blocked rules take priority over the broader Shield profile and Community context.

Expecting a Call

What is a Call Window?

A Call Window temporarily lets ordinary unknown callers ring while you expect a delivery, callback, appointment or service call.

How do I start or extend one?

Open Expecting a Call, choose Call Window, then select 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours or a specific end time. Choose a later end time to extend it.

Do blocked callers ring?

No. Personal Block rules remain in force during a Call Window.

Does it make callers trusted?

No. A Call Window never adds an unknown caller to your Trusted rules.

What happens when it expires?

The window ends automatically and your normal Shield profile resumes.

Caller Insight

Why did Caller Insight not appear?

Android version, manufacturer behaviour, display-over-other-apps permission, lock-screen state or system restrictions can prevent the overlay from appearing.

Does overlay permission affect screening?

No. Caller Insight explains a decision, while Shield screening uses Android’s separate caller ID and Call Screening role.

How do lock-screen alerts work?

When Android permits it, AiCalla may show a privacy-aware Shield alert for an active incoming call. Your Phone app remains responsible for answering or declining.

Can AiCalla work without notifications?

Yes. Notification permission is optional. Local screening and Shield Calls continue, but you may miss fallback insight and quick actions.

Call review

What is Shield Calls?

Shield Calls is AiCalla’s private history of screened incoming calls. It is not your complete Phone Recents list.

What is Caller Profile?

Caller Profile combines AiCalla activity, personal settings, available identity context and Community reports without treating uncertain information as fact.

What does Mark spam do?

It records your feedback for the caller and may contribute eligible deferred Community feedback, separately from your future-call rule.

What does Mark important do?

It records a personal signal that the caller matters to you so AiCalla can consider it in future local decisions.

How do I Trust, Silence or Block someone?

Open the caller from Shield Calls, a notification or Caller Profile, then choose the personal rule you want for future calls.

What are Community reports?

They are changeable user-provided descriptions and call-type context. They are informational, do not prove identity and do not block callers on their own.

Can I update or revoke a report?

Where available in Caller Profile, open your existing Community report and update or remove it without changing your separate personal rule.

After-call tools

What is Asked to stop?

Asked to stop saves the date you requested no further contact and lets AiCalla highlight later screened calls from that caller.

What is Evidence Summary?

It prepares a local, user-controlled summary of relevant AiCalla activity for your own records or deliberate sharing.

Is Evidence Summary legal advice?

No. It is an organisational tool and does not establish wrongdoing or replace professional legal advice.

Does AiCalla automatically report callers?

No. AiCalla does not automatically submit Evidence Summaries or official complaints. You decide whether and where to share information.

Privacy

Does AiCalla record calls?

No. AiCalla does not record or transcribe call audio.

Does it request Contacts?

Release 3.3.0 does not request Contacts permission, and AiCalla does not upload the device’s Contacts.

Does it request Call Log?

Release 3.3.0 does not request Call Log permission, and AiCalla does not upload the device’s full Call Log.

What stays on the device?

Personal rules, local Shield Calls activity, local relationship data, Shield Profile answers, Call Window state, Asked-to-stop notes, Evidence source data and local display or permission state remain on the device.

What may sync later?

Eligible installation registration, designed screening-event data, pseudonymous caller identifiers, action and reason codes, feedback, Community reports, cache refreshes, limited diagnostics, Current Plan and purchase-verification information may use AiCalla services.

Is call information used for advertising?

No. AiCalla does not add phone numbers, caller identities, call history, screening decisions, Community labels, personal rules, Evidence data or Asked-to-stop information to ad requests.

How do I clear or delete data?

Use the relevant action under Settings → Privacy & data for local information. For eligible synced data, follow the separate process on the Delete data page.

Free and Plus

Is AiCalla free?

Yes. Core Shield protection remains available on Free.

Where can ads appear?

Free users may see limited consent-aware banner ads on the Shield dashboard, Shield Calls and Rules.

Where can ads never appear?

Ads never appear during calls; in Caller Insight; lock-screen caller alerts; notifications or actions; Caller Profile; Call Window; Asked to stop; Evidence Summaries; permission or onboarding flows; privacy controls; Plus purchase flows; or individual call cards.

What does Plus include?

The current public Plus benefit is no AiCalla ads.

How do I restore Plus?

Open the Plus area in AiCalla and use the available restore or refresh action while signed into the Google Play account used for the purchase.

Who manages subscription pricing and cancellation?

Google Play shows localised Monthly and Yearly pricing and manages purchase processing, renewal and cancellation under its store terms.
